Writing

Every piece starts as a card: the idea, the tension, the belief being challenged, and who it's for. The script is just what happens once those four are settled.

Strategy & Thinking

01 / 03

The report nobody opened

The most valuable insight in your funnel is in the report nobody opened.

The Dead Sea Scrolls sat in a cave for two thousand years.

Not because they were hidden. Because nobody thought to look there. The area wasn't remote or inaccessible — it was passed regularly. The scrolls weren't lost. They were just in a place that didn't match anyone's model of where something significant would be found.

A Bedouin shepherd threw a rock into the cave looking for a lost goat. That's how they were discovered.

Important things feel like they should be in obvious places. They're usually in the place nobody checked.

The tension this piece is built on

The biggest insight in your funnel data right now is probably working the same way.

It's not in the metrics you check every week. It's in the report that seemed too granular to matter, the segment that seemed too small to investigate, the drop-off point that wasn't dramatic enough to flag.

It's been sitting there the whole time. Completely visible. In the place that didn't look worth checking.

VSL — Section 3

Success has a way of masking inefficiencies

The most expensive gap in any business is the one between good and what you know you should be operating at.

If you're watching this, it's not because you're failing — it's because you're wise enough to notice the gap between good performance and the level you know you should be operating at.

Most of the people we work with weren't dealing with broken funnels. They were dealing with something far more subtle, and far more costly. Funnels that were working, but not compounding. Buyers coming in, but not at the speed their infrastructure could handle. Traffic converting, but leaving a quiet percentage on the table.

And here's the part no one likes to admit out loud: success has a way of masking inefficiencies. When the numbers look fine, it's easy to overlook the places where you're silently bleeding scale, authority, and effortless sales.

Nothing is broken. That's exactly the problem.

The tension this piece is built on

They weren't here to fix a problem. They were here because something in them wanted the upgrade.
